Information on Szklarska Poręba
Szklarska Poręba is a wonderfully
placed town
on the Izerskie mountains and Karkonosze range, above which
Szrenica is (1362 m. above sea level). It is surrounded by
forrests, on the
440-886 m. above sea level so there are Dolna, Średnia and
Górna (which is now the widest) Szklarska Poręba. The history
of this town the same as its name is connected with the
developtment of glass metallurgy in this area.
But from the
middle of XIX century Szklarska Poręba has been becoming a
tourist center
visited by many people not only in winter
but
also in summer seasion. What is important and goes to show
that the atractiveness of this town is very high is good
railway and road transport, numerous slopes on which there
have been made ways for skiers, over 5 thousands of places to
sleep in modern guest houses and hotels and developted chain
of gastronomic points. The location of Szklarska Poręba is a
perfect to start mountain and bicycle trips.
There is not so
far to the other elegant tourist towns such as: Jelenia Góra,
Karpacz,
Kowary, Piechowice, Świeradów Zdrój.
